COURSE OVERVIEW
Our industry has used two ounce and two ounce formulas for over 80 years. Manufacturers care only about their bottom line, not your clients or yours. With all the new colors, bonding agents and additives, the directions we’ve been taught to adhere to are just wrong. Let’s face it—you can’t color grey hair with water; Ten volume is 97% water and 3% peroxide. Modern technology calls for modern formulations that perform much better.
There are three ingredients to make a color formula: pigment, ammonia and developer. Manipulating them properly will give you radical grey coverage, hair that is shiny and soft and awesome client retention. It will de-stress your work day and you can stop burning candles to the hair gods in the back room.
Precision custom formulations will give you the confidence you’ve always wanted as a colorist. I’ll demonstrate in a hands-on class how to customize formulas for each clients’ needs. You’ll do the same formula on your loyal client over and over because that’s what the manufacturer tells you to do, resulting in unsatisfactory grey coverage, too much lift, hot roots, blotchy color, bands and damage.
I’ll show you how to break the rules and give you a set of rules that make sense. Learn the difference between 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 volume.
